The Green Energy Act: What it Means for Municipalities

The Green Economy and Green Energy Act, 2009 (GEA) is an initiative led by the Ministry of Energy and Infrastructure (MEI), that was enacted to:

  • Protect our environment, combat climate change and create a healthier future for future generations.
  • Build a strong and green economy.
  • The implementation of many key initiatives is already underway.
    This presentation will focus on the three key initiatives under the GEA:
    1. Make Ontario a Renewable Energy Leader
    2. Encourage Investment and Create Jobs (50,000 jobs in the first three years)
    3. Foster a Culture of Conservation
