Innovation, Science and Technology at work for the Communities of Eastern Ontario
The Ontario East Wood Centre & Eco-Industrial Park board of directors is engaging private business, farmers, foresters, universities, colleges and local governments in the challenge of building on the economic, energy and environmental opportunities in a smart, low carbon rural eastern Ontario.
The story of the OEWC and its potential for the future will be described using case studies from the forest industry, agriculture, biochemical and biofuel processing fields. The stories of frustrations and successes involved in the establishment of this innovative and sustainable approach to community economic development, will encompass three streams of value-added products from farm and forest throughout Eastern Ontario.
Presenter(s):
Sandra S. Lawn, project leader of the Ontario East Wood Centre & Eco-Industrial Park with colleagues from Queen's University and the Eastern Ontario Model Forest
